Cell Groups

For NLC, home missions means reaching the city.  The primary way we reach the city is through our cell group ministry. The life of NLC is found in its cell groups, where relationships are built and nurtured, and believers encourage each other in the walk of faith. For this reason, the cell group provides a unique platform to reach out to friends, relatives and acquaintances.

Members are taught and mandated to reach others and invite them to cell and to church. As those invited find a place to connect and get ministered to, opportunity is presented to them to get born again. Moreover, it is easy for cell groups to organize activities where they can invite unbelievers and use it as a tool of evangelism.

After people get born again in the cell groups, they are encouraged to make a public declaration by responding to the altar call in Church, and get connected to the body of Christ as they attend New Believers’ classes and then PEP, all the time surrounded by their cell family.

Mitaani Churches

NLC also endeavors to reach the city through local congregations. In this regard, NLC has planted four congregations around the city with the goal of seeing strong healthy disciples raised up in those neighborhoods.We call those Mitaani churches as they are geared towards reaching people in a targeted neighborhood.  Our Mitaani churches are:

• NLC Huruma - Pastor George and Tina Ondeng'
• NLC Athi River- Pastor Waweru and Evelyn Njenga
  
• NLC Kibera - Pastor Peter Mung'ang'a
• NLC Ngong - Pastor Geoffrey and Sophia Maina

Lamu
In addition to these, God has given NLC an opportunity to reach the island of Lamu.  Lamu has a special significance for NLC – it was while serving as a missionary on that island that Pastor Don received his call to plant a congregation that would send out missionaries to such un-reached peoples.

Pastor Steve and Jennifer Thuku were sent out to Lamu in 2005, and continue to connect with individuals and raise cells to spread the Word of God.
