This past August, we had the privilege of announcing to our church the steps ahead as we transition into what God has for our next. In the coming months, NLC will be marching towards our 40th anniversary in March 2027, and then shortly thereafter, join together with the Life Church of Memphis. We are so expectant for what’s coming, and we’ll be using this page to give regular updates as the details unfold.

the story

After serving in various capacities for a number of years, including as District Pastors, Pastor John & Leslie Siebeling were sent out from Nairobi Lighthouse Church in 1997 to plant the Life Church of Memphis. Now in its 30th year, the Life Church has grown into various locations in the United States and around the world.

In the same time, NLC has grown into one of the most vibrant churches in Nairobi, with multiple churches planted in our nation and across the continent. Pastor Don & Ms.Amy continued to serve The Life Church as presbyters and overseers.

Now, these two families are becoming one – a full circle moment that’s such a testimony to the faithfulness of God to order our steps!

Here are some key highlights of the process:

  • NLC will celebrate its 40th Anniversary on March 14th, 2027.
  • Shortly thereafter, we will join together with The Life Church, becoming part of its global family.
  • Pastor John & Leslie Siebeling will become Senior Pastors, and a local couple will be appointed as Lead Pastors of our Nairobi church.
  • Pastor Don will take on the title of Founding Pastor and will move into more global ministry responsibilities for The Life Church. He will also continue to serve as Presbyter over The Life Church, alongside Pastor David Briggs who has been NLC Presbyter for several years.

SEPTEMBER UPDATE

Pastor John will be ministering and sharing more updates on September 20th.

The Life Church vision season is ongoing, and this announcement is also being made to The Life Church community.

We are joining together in prayer over the four main goals of the transition:
– Honoring Pastor Don & Ms.Amy’s legacy;
– Appointment of a local Lead Pastor for our church;
– The process of coming together of our two churches;
– Church planting plans in our city, nation and beyond.
